In excess of a thousand bronze statue fragments and foundry remainsfrom the Hellenistic period were discovered over the course of archaeologicalfield work conducted between 1978 and 1989 by the Centre for ArchaeologicalStudies of the Republic of Georgia at the Vani city site in western Georgia.
