Abstract

The Epigraphic Corpus of Georgia http://epigraphy.iliauni.edu.ge/ The paper reviews the history of studying multilingual epigraphy in Georgia. Different research stages of Georgian epigraphy, including electronic editions prepared by the ISU Institute of Linguistic Studies, have been considered. The Epigraphic Corpus of Georgia, which is a long-term project, comprises Georgian, Aramaic and Greek inscriptions dating from the period between the 1st and 12th centuries AD. In addition to Georgian inscriptions, it also aims at preparing the publication of the corpora of the Urartian, Aramaic, Greek, Jewish, Arabic, Persian and Armenian inscriptions according to the EpiDoc guidelines. The project has been in progress since 2015. The first electronic publication of the bilingual inscription from Armazi produced according to the mentioned standards was prepared in 2014 by Tamar Kalkhitashvili within the framework of her MA research. The critical edition of the Aramaic text was published by Giorgi Tsereteli in Alef-Bet Ivrit. For this edition we used the Armazian-Aramaic script made by Tamar Kalkhitashvili.
